# How to Book Training and Time on the Universal Test Machines

#### **How to book training and time on the Universal Test Machines**

Use the links on this page to get trained and book time on the UTMs for material testing.

<div id="bkmrk--2"></div>#### **To get access to the UTM:**

To get authorized to use the Material Testing Equipment you will need to take the following training:  **Material Testing - Level 1 - Operating the Universal Test Machines for Tension, Compression, &amp; Flexure Testing**  which can be found here: [https://itll.colorado.edu/signup/upcomingworkshops](https://itll.colorado.edu/signup/upcomingworkshops)

#### **To book time on the UTM after you've been trained:**

1. When you are ready to test, you can book the machine using our Calendly system. First you will book a 30 min time slot with the Engineer and the Machine. This will ensure that the Engineer is available to answer any questions you have while setting up for your tests. **Engineering Consult Booking Link:**  [https://calendly.com/itlp/material-testing-consultation](https://calendly.com/itlp/material-testing-consultation)
2. You will also want to book extra time on the machine (links for this will be in the Calendly invite and are below). This will ensure that the machine is available for the entire duration of your testing.

Because our staff is already at capacity while continuing to support more students and courses, Dean Molenaar has directed us to focus our resources solely on the educational mission of the college. This change was communicated to the research community in August by Mike Gooseff, Associate Dean for Research. I’ve included his message below for reference.</div><div id="bkmrk--1">
